3D Rendering with Bryce 2
What is Bryce?
Bryce is a 3D rendering program, created by the folks at Metatools. Bryce enables the user to build fantastic landscapes from simple wireframe models. Bryce provides you with a pallette of basic objects to include in your pictures, a number of textures to apply to each object, and nifty handles for moving everything around.
Even if you feel you don't have an artistic bone in your body, Bryce can quickly get you churning out some really nice landscapes. Between the ease of use and the beautiful results, it may quickly remind you of those paint by number sets you had as a kid.
For those who have used graphics programs in a two dimensional environment, using Bryce will initially be a bit of a mind-bender. Once you get used to the idea of your 3-D workspace, the program becomes loads of fun.
But are there any commercial applications for Bryce? Well throughout this article I've used samples of Bryce-generated artwork to enhance the textures of objects I've included. Anyone creating digital artwork that requires landscapes with specific compositions will find Bryce very handy. Art teachers could use Bryce to demonstrate both composition and light-logic to their students.
Evaluation copies of Bryce 2 can be acquired over the Internet, and full versions can be purchased or ordered through your favorite software store. Please have a look at some of the links I've included below and also in the margins of this review.
